St George’s welcomes Chief Anne Richardson of the Rappahannock Tribe and Jamie Bosket, the President and CEO of The Virginia Museum of History and Culture, as our guests at St George’s. There will be a talk in church at 7.30pm on the theme of The Many Faces of Pocahontas with contributions from the different perspectives of our two guests. Admission is free, with any donations going to the Friends of St George’s.
Chief Anne was with us last March for Pocahontas400 and her words at the special service made a great impact on many people. Just last month, President Trump signed legislation giving federal recognition to six Virginia tribes, including the Rappahannocks. This came after a quest of more than twenty years.
Jamie Bosket is the President and CEO of the recently renamed Virginia Museum of History and Culture, a major museum and archive based in Richmond, Virginia. This will be his first visit to Gravesend.
