Model Railway Exhibition
On Sat 24th Feb 2018 we held our ninth annual Model Railway exhibition. Organised by Jean and Trevor Ault, it was undoubtedly one of the most successful. ‘What made it so successful?’ you may ask. The key ingredient is the visitors, and there were lots of them; in fact at the busiest times the hall and stage were packed with adults and children watching the very elaborate model railway set-ups. There were about six or seven in all, with multiple trains running on the intricate network of tracks in each set-up and beautiful urban and countryside settings had been created by the exhibitors for their railways to run through.
The visitors came from far and wide. One person came by train from Southend to Gravesend, another from Wimbledon and a married couple had driven up from Sussex. Indeed, the exhibitors themselves came from all over the south of England, giving their time free to support our church.
Jean and Trevor masterminded the event but when people are travelling from far and wide, refreshments are vital and our refreshments team did a brilliant job as ever, both those in the kitchen as well as all those who baked the cakes which were so well received, as ever.
And finally, the event raised £879 for the church, just £20 or so short of the highest amount that the event has ever made.
There will be another exhibition next year. If you didn’t come this year, why not come next year and if you have young children or grandchildren, bring them along as well to enjoy the spectacle!
