Gravesham Place Chaplaincy Team
In June 2016 a small team from St George’s Church and the East Gravesend Cluster of Churches began a regular chaplaincy ministry to Gravesham Place, Gravesham Community Hospital, supporting four units (Emerald, Opal, Diamond and Topaz) and the Dementia Day Care Centre.
The team visits the units on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, offering a listening ear to patients and staff alike. The team is able to offer dedicated one-to-one time to really listen and chat with individuals.
Prayer, Holy Communion and the sharing of faith stories may be appropriate for some but it is time offered to all, with no strings or agendas attached.
The team’s ministry is based on and supported by prayer. The team meets before and after each visit to pray in the hospital’s chapel, which is on the lower ground floor of the building and accessed via the garden.
The chapel caters for people of all faiths and none; a quiet space which is available for use by patients, staff and visitors alike. It is a place of calm and peace for you to be able to spend some reflective time in silence, read or pray.
This church offers visits or Holy Communion outside the regular chaplaincy visits, particularly if a person is in immediate need.
If you have a friend or relative who is currently in the hospital who would like a visit, please do contact us via email, giving some details and a contact number, and we will be happy to arrange that.
